Deepak Chopra: Woo Woo Is a Step Ahead of (Bad) Science

I had no idea that Shermer was a former Christian Fundie - it all makes sense now.

  1. Wow. I had no clue that Shermer was a Christian Fundie either. Weird.

  2. "Was" or "is"...? How does that square with his CSI affiliation, I wonder. Those boys are down on religion... want to replace it with science.

It _does_ explain a lot. He's a lot more disgusting than he even _was_, eh?

  3. Like most fundies Shermer has a need for absolutes. I am sure at one time Jesus was that absolute, but then something happened that left Shermer angry so the absolute had to change to the exact opposite. Maybe there needs to be recovery programs for fundies, otherwise they just become all religious about something else.

  4. Yeah, Michael shermer is a "fundie " with a need for "absolutes" like evidence and testiblity. I love the amount of projection in your post "lesley"

  5. Why is my name in quotes?

To my knowledge I am no fundie. I have no absolute beliefs about anything. In fact, I would say that I am a true skeptic because I can be swayed by evidence, even if that evidence doesn't support my original conclusion.

BTW, when Shermer actually starts testing things - please let me know. All I have ever seen him do is guess about what he thinks is most likely. Not to mention, in regards to UFO cases, he normally doesn't even seem to know the basic facts of the case, let alone have tested anything.

Yes, I would love to see him test his conclusions and see if they really match with what witnesses claim to have seen.
